James Tedesco act in NRL grand final that might have cost him Kangaroos fullback spot - Yahoo News Australia — Walsh Edges Tedesco in Kangaroos World Cup Fullback Call

Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters has chosen Reece Walsh ahead of James Tedesco at fullback for Australia's Rugby League World Cup opener. Walters explained his reasoning for leaving Tedesco out, with reports linking Tedesco's NRL grand final performance to the call.

The decision has raised eyebrows across the rugby league community, given Tedesco's standing as one of the game's premier fullbacks. It is a controversial choice heading into the tournament.

Jack Preston was also named in the squad, earning his debut. Preston's inclusion gives Walters more options as Australia prepares for the World Cup campaign.
